Group Minibus
1st Herrington Scout Group own two 14 seat Transit minibuses. They are both fitted with towbars should you need to tow.
Other Scout Groups can use our Transit vehicles. We operate on a not-for-profit basis and the costs are shared among the users.
Running Costs
£1.19 per mile including fuel. The minimum charge is £25 for each booking.
£50 per day (with unlimited mileage) excluding fuel. The minimum charge is £50.
The User Group is responsible for any insurance excess in the event of any incident. (Fire £150, Theft £150, Accidental Damage £150, Windscreen Chip Repair £10 Vehicle glass replacement £75).
Groups hiring the bus must hold and display their own section 19 permit when using the minibus.
The group own a bike/kayak trailer and box trailer which is also available for hire and can be towed by our minibuses.
Driver Eligibility
Be aged 25-70
Have category D1E on their licence for towing.
Belong to a group who hold a Section 19 permit
Have at least 2 years' driving experience
We'd prefer you to hold a current MIDAS minibus certificate (or similar passenger carrying safety certificate).
Groups wishing to train drivers in MIDAS should contact East Durham Community Transport. The course costs £50.
